| [#9] Rod Stewart shm cd 得唔得 Faimiu HING, Fully agreed. I have bought the K2 HD 紫釵記and is disappointed. very clear but the original opera atmosphere has gone. For old recordings, I would prefer the original versions without mastering. DSD / K2 HD mastering may help to give a clearer stage with clear location of singer and the instruments but will erase most of the spatial effects in the original master tape. So, I would vote , for 帝女花，the DVDA version and the original one. according to Mr.LAU Crown records, he has spent much efforts to re-master the tape and efforts are very outstanding. Get a copy if you don't have one and you will see the difference. | [#8] Rod Stewart shm cd 得唔得 cwks Hing surely, the Eagles SHMCD is a good success story of re-releases. Frankly i am not too interested in the K2HD CD as they carry excessive manipulations, and mostly not done in a smart manner. | [#7] Rod Stewart shm cd 得唔得 Faimiu HING, The eagles SHM cd is by far the best amongst other versions issued so far. Xrcd has done some mastering on mid and high range to make the vocal more standing out. If you listen to the K2HD version, you will easily figure out the difference. For rod Stewart SHM xrcd, Ok la! | [#6] Rod Stewart shm cd 得唔得 Totally Agree with MetalNuts that SHMCD is a better CD material that leads to overall improvement of sound quality without changing the equalizations of the source. It leads to solid improvements for the the old Classics CD, with overall better clarity, imaging and sound density. The conclusion is based on comparison with the original CD release. I have the Eagles: Hell Freezes Over SHMCD, and I prefer it over the XRCD2 release that the sound seems slightly exaggerated for the latter. The Rod Stewart is a XRCD + SHMCD, meaning there is some re-equalization using XRCD technology, plus the benefits of better quality CD raw material. I do not have this Rod Stewart, but I have the Saturday Night Fever (XRCD/SHMCD) and the sound quality is nice. Yet i have no way to compare with the original CD as i do not have it. |

| [#5] Rod Stewart shm cd 得唔得 SHMCD 不是甚麼 CD 新制式而是 Super High Material CD. 所以跟CD的音效沒有直接關係由其是日本 cdjapan 出品的, 相信並沒有remaster 加工是最接近原本母帶錄音.賣點不是甚麼聲效更上一層樓...是把舊錄音從新發行. SHMCD 由於是較高質料製成壽命能比從前CD長而已,當然其聲稱由於質料透明度高而能提高音質亦是賣點,但相信比起其他甚麼HQCD, BLUSPEC CD AQCD LPCD 等效果跟原錄音是沒那麼明顯. 喜歡聽原錄音加工的 SHMCD 應不是那杯茶. |
