[#516] 美國西部旅遊實錄之再續前緣我係以遊人及個人眼光來看美國,至於真正了蝷@個地方我相信要住上3至4年才能認識到. 若人人有機會自由來住及居住在不同國家,體會不同文化,地貌係好幸福.讀萬卷書更要行萬里路. 美國地大物博,資源豐富,自由開放.包攬各國人材,唯人善用. 最近既次按危機,並不單是美國受經濟打擊.好多國家尤其中國都唔想美國衰. 油價急升我睇都是短暫.因為好多野可以取代油. 而美國70%既油都花在車輪上.三藩市有Car Pool lane,但係塞車時只有少數車用,大部份係一人一車. 到油價真係升到10元1加侖時便有其它次類能源出產.因為現時用油做能源係方便. 瑞典己經計劃到2020年係0輪入石油.澳洲有能力做到自給自足.美國沿海有大量石油蘊藏.開發要受環保份子反對.其實產油國都唔想個油價升到人地唔想買.		macken 正式會員 121.xxx.xxx.204	2008-07-21 15:42

Smash, Yeah....can't look back and think "what if" just impractical.

I believe you came to LA when you were a kid or a teenager, right? Where did you live when you were in LA?

If you want to come back now, I am sure you can. Maybe it is just the opportunity cost is too big for you to forgo what you have in Hong Kong right now. I hope you can come back at a time you want to. Cheeers!

alec6266: i agree everything you said in your previous post. For the housing, forget it la. God knows. If you have ability, you still can make money easy when there is a chance come by.

The more I read here the more I wanted to go back to LA. LA is really a much nicer place then HK for living. Thanks Macken!

攪番自己 D 相，上番 review33 見番條 thread，即刻再入場，其實睇到中段，未睇完，好精彩。

要番工暫停，都忍唔住推一推，拍拍手。

Macken, I used to live in South Pasadena, which is really close to Huntington Library, maybe 4 miles away the most. San Marino (where Huntington Library locates) is a very nice, rich community where housing price is extermely high; even a small house there exceeds $1m; the recent housing slump does not affect the housing price in San Marino and South Pasadena much at all. Too bad that I did not buy a place in S. Pasadena when I move there in 2001, otherwise, I would have made 0.5m in 2006.

For Chinese dinner, I always go to San Gribel and Monterey Park they always have seafood specials. Now lobster in on sale at couple restaurants for $3.99/lb. Yes. dim sum in LA is decent and price is reasonable; not bad at all. In fact, with rising food price, sometimes it is cheaper to eat out than cook at home.

LA China Town has nothing to see; but the city is talking about re-develop the area and make it more attractive. Let see. There are lot of Vietnamese in China Town, in fact, most of the jewelery stores there are owned by Vietnamese. I guess you can tell from walking in the Saigon Center. The BBQ pork and pig at Samn Woo China Town is not as good as the other 2 in Alhambra and Monterey Park. Those 2 have really good BBQ Pork, yum yum!!! I guess Smash Hing will agree with me.

Next time when you go to LA, you should check out Rowland Heights, Walnut and Diamond Bar area; they are the new "China Town" in LA; a lot of Taiwanese lives there; these are wealthy communities; they are more upscale as compare to Alhambra and Monterey Park. You can tell the difference instantly by people's clothes; very interesting indeed.

Thanks again for the beautiful pictures. I just don't realize that scenes I see every day or often can be that interesting through the eyse of visitor.
