| [#36] Soundtrack 同好會 Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard's Batman Dark Knight. I don't particularly like their earlier works ... oh well, I quite like Hans Zimmer's Black Rain. But I tend to think both have produced quality works, and they are constrained by Hollywood's Wall-to-wall music approach (which means dense orchestral works have to fill up most of the 'sound spaces' of movies). I may be wrong though since I haven't listened to every work of theirs. But Dark Knight is such an innovative OST. You like electronica of Prodigy/Chemical Brothers/Crystal Method? It's there. But you like Symphony which dark mood and power? It's there. In fact, they blended the two genres in an innovative way that the OST will lost all the magic if only orchestral / electronica music was adopted. The OST is a challenge to speakers - the dynamic is a bit compressed (probably due to commercial concern), but still ok and large enough to frighten you if you turn up the volume too loud at the beginning. Extraordinary low frequencies exist somewhere, providing a kinetic background that I think my speakers may not have fully reproduced them. Overall, the soundscape created is full of surprises, power, scale, and details. Highly recommended for those who want to take challenges ...  |

| [#40] Soundtrack 同好會 My friend uses a vintage valve amp to drive a pair huge horn speakers. The gears were located in a big godown. Room treatments? It is free - carton boxes everywhere. It is the best and most affordable system for movie scores.  |
