Will bring a pair of BIG Quad II to Siu Lam to meet Colin 15" Tannoy Silver this afternoon.
I will aslo bring NEC's 400CX-2 (with Telefunken ECC83) and Richard will bring his 400CX.

個人認為

【聽耐】十五銀在高連兄樹愈分開愈好
兩魚夫聲底雷同，CX 較柔，CX-2 較清，兩者 Bass 較馬七緊些。

Gingers' UK made RCA monoblocs.. not bad, but compared not as good as the LEAK TL/12.1.

For the price of RCA (roughly half the price of 12.1), the sound is really very good.

Before the pair of Tannoy 15" monitors are placed wider apart..

The soundstage is immediately open up and natural when the speakers are placed further apart.. My conclusion: Those whose listening room is not wider than 12' should forget about Tannoy 15" monitors.

A-B comparsion between the 400CX-2 and 400CX.. I would strongly recommend the 400CX for the price difference and the very similar sounding quality. In fact the circuits used by them are very similar, the difference between them is the 12AT7 vs 12AU7. But surprisingly, their tonality, bass control, and overall sounding are very similar.

The 400CX-2 is a little bit more hi-fi in strictly A-B comparison.

Thinking the Japan tube amplifier swam across the ocean to reach US, I am itchy to try the Japan tube amplifier for a long time. Pioneer is defintely a famous brandname and I choose this as my first Japan tube amplifier : )
