| [#5110] Harbeth同好會 FInally finished with the sand filling and installation tonight. Boy it is slavery work. Listening to Glenn Gould and Bach, it seems to sound more solid and steady. I filled all beams to the brim. Too lazy to disassemble and make a mess to adjust sand level. |

| [#5117] Harbeth同好會 doctorjohn, The mod was done by the previous owner. What it did is to have a thick arylic cut it to the dimension close to the plater then added clear audio plastic spike. I will take some photos for you to see tomorrow. |

| [#5124] Harbeth同好會 ptholeo, I am not qualified to share my limited experience on sub integration, M40 is the master:) My sub has a high pass filter though :) If you want the easy way: just plug in a sub and try dfferent setting:) find out which setting sounds best, and use equipments to analyze later :) |

| [#5126] Harbeth同好會 the hard way, from my understanding, is much more sophisticated, which uses the signal out from pre amp to the sub directly, enable high pass filter of the sub, output the signal(equalized? high frequencies only?) back to power amp. According to M40hing, high quality sub with balanced connection will not have any signal loss problem despite the long cable lenght involved. But in my case my sub is 9m away from the hifi rack and my sub has no XLR so it is not a good idea for me to try the hard way. I just plug the sub to the output 2 of my preamp. The performance is far behind M40 hing's system, both due to quality of sub and 9m RCA connection between preamp and sub. I believe. |

| [#5127] Harbeth同好會 Let me share some experience of using sub high pass filter. Start with negative side. Since there are cables running from preamp to sub and back to pre, it somewhat limits the position of subwoofer. I can't free place the sub to any location. The location of sub is very crucial to order to get flat bass response. Second, by using high pass filter. You are transferring bass duty from main spk to subwoofer. You have to carefully adjust the volume in order not to alter the main speaker character. Turning too high, main spk character (e.g. violin) will be changed. Turning too low, the sub improvement is not significant. |

| [#5128] Harbeth同好會 rover hing, I can confirm long cable (no matter RCA or XLR) will degrade the sound. You can easily heard the difference btw 5ft and 7ft. But btw 5ft to 10ft, the difference become clear. |
