I don't know the reason too. I never compare the SIV, MIV or different generations Cello 十二粒 in same system. According to my experience with the SIV and MIV in different systems, they sound good to me.

From the auction:

This Cello audio palette, probably the greatest analog equalizer to be built, was purchased in 1986 directly from Mark Levinson. It was housed in a New York studio and well cared for. It remains in perfect condition. This palette was used on many reissue projects for Mosaic, Blue Note, Fantasy and other labels. Original cost was approximately $10,000.

The unit is fitted with professional XLR inputs and outputs. It comes with its own power supply, multiconductor power supply cable and IEC power cable.

The palette and power supply are housed in sturdy flight cases which are airline-proof and shipper-proof.

Shipping: The two cases are 24” x 21” x 11” and weigh 35 pounds each. Method of shipping can be worked out and only actual shipping will be charged. It can also be picked up.

Methods of payment: PayPal, cashier’s check or US postal money orders.

The items are currently located in Stamford, Connecticut.

According to the info from a c-hing that a MIV in the similar S/N 7XX with unknown MPS S/N is asking HK$129,000 (approx) today in Nov 2009'

This is an offering for a Cello Audio Palette, which includes the power supply.

This is a later SIV with the later power supply as indicated by the vents on top of the power supply. The cable between the Audio Palette and Power Supply - is included, as is the original box and packaging! However, the covers for both the AP and PS where the power cables go are not included - I can not locate them.

Several folks have asked me about this being an early or late version. It is a late Single Input Version (SIV). Power supply has vents and the Audio Palette has a serial number AFTER the 378 number that distinguishes newer versus older.

Shipping is additional - local pick up acceptable
