| [#628] Weiss DAC202 Kent san, Can you have a look at your blog my comment on your Shelby Lynne article? I have a question on some distortion on that disc. That disc sounds great but there are some very obvious distortion. Some say that those distortion means that the disc is unaltered and is a good sign. but I wonder if that is an indication of an overly high level being set. Which is what everyone has been discussing regarding "the loudness war". |

| [#630] Weiss DAC202 Hello yamother hing, You can simply use a mouse to click on the 48kHz and select it back to 44.1kHz if required. We advice Weiss user to use ASIO/WASAPI/Sonic Amarra, which all automatically sample rate changes according to the file native rates. There is no need to change that whatsoever. Agentsmittie san, Yes indeed those are clipping distortions which are nasty. I have done my version with a de-clipped algorithm which makes it sound pleasant. With loudness war, engineer puts a limiter to squeeze the dynamic range therefore there should not have such clipping happens. However, it doesn't mean this clipping is a nice thing to hear. Firewire Medea - (Input#3 becomes Firewire input, Input#4 becomes AT&T optical to match with Jason direct connection. Firewire input has RF receiver for remote control (digital level & polarity) On hardware board, the older version uses Dual AES for 176.4 and 192kHz. The newer version uses single wire for high sampling rates. ＞ 各位師兄請問medea高級D定DAC202？ Medea is 高級D.... Medea is Weiss flagship DAC. DAC202 has better measurement and spec. compares to Medea. Since both are my company products, I can share a little on their subjective listening comments. If you audition both side by side with matched level, you will find the DAC202 has quite advantage on dynamics, 3D soundstage and resolution. This confirms the findings which DAC202 has better SNR, DR, THD+N. However the Medea has more meat in the mid range, and illustrate the sound image in more pleasant presentation. This area is hard to beat as the analogue output stage of Medea is capable to drive speakers.......  |

After returning to Minerva Forum, I found the world is changed! Minerva is getting outdated and now the people are talking about DAC202. But the price is almost double to Minerva. Any C Hings can share your views on upgrading Minerva to DAC202? Is it worthwhile to do so? |

| [#644] Weiss Minerva Minerva was a "luxury" version of DAC2 and DAC2 still exists as a current product, DAC202 is just a more expensive product of higher grade. Your Minerva/DAC2 will sound just as good as before and will be supported by Weiss, so no need to worry unless you have the itch to upgrade. |

| [#647] Weiss Minerva Agreed that we like different audio sources, no one can say that any one of the sources is the most superior. Some recordings sound better in CD than LP, because of difference in mastering and other production steps for the same master tapes. CAS is another new area as we can play master files. Thus CD/LP/CAS are not mutually exclusive in my place. My concern is how can I make the best performance for my existing CAS or upgrading my Minerva to DAC202 can give rise to significant improvement. |
