This afternoon I am going back to the QUAD and the BC3 with some new tubes with both the Elekit Preamp and AN M1 phono preamp.

First comes the EC80CC for the Elekit and the E188CC for the AN M1, both tubes are from Philips.

Second round with the JAN 6189WA from Sylvania on Elekit and Philips E188CC on AN M1.

Last but not least, a pair of RCA 5814A on Elekit and still Philips E188CC on AN M1.

Bringing in the BEARD P35 into the main house, mainly trying to match with the Linn SARA.

To be honest with you I wasn't too hopeful since I know the SARA demands a lot of power. The P35 only has 35W( Class A)!!

Another reason is also swapping the tubes came with the amp with my own EL84 tubes I have from the past. The two ECC81 from the seller are some Chinese but I put two Telefunken ECC81.

The EL84 from the seller is a mixture of Russian's, Chinese and I change to all Russian 6P14P.

Actually it was quite a surprise that it works well with the combos.

A smaller room? May be.

I will I have to agree wit my friend that the BEARD P35 is at the moment best matched with my DIY Chi3/5.

I suppose this Frankenstein Chi3/5 would still have a tiny, tiny portion DNA of the BBC LS3/5a which many suggest best driven by valve amp of 30-50W per channel.

Apart from being good at vocal and I also like the simple composition of some string and brass, like the LA4 which is good fun with the drums attack, saxophone and acoustic guitar.

The sitar and violin from Anoushka Shankar is a joy to listen to. It fills the whole room with so much verbs which is unbelievable from such small speaker.

been days...i need to listen to that daily ( even it was the worst bond movie in traditional sense..haha )
