| [#99] ATC Friends Club Dear ATC fans I am using ATC 100 triwire version Yes it is very difficult to find in second hand market. I originally looked for SCM50 which I considered the best ( still the same now ). After one year search I found this pair of SCM 100 in Ming Kai and I could not stand anymore. In my small living room they looks like two refirgerators, and every vistors are shocked by these two monsters. You can imagine how my wife can tolerate :) I am driving them with a pair of CJ premier One. Very good sound, but you need to change all GE tubes. I am using Siemens 5751WA, Sylvania 6cg7, and EH 6550. Don't believe in YK Audiophile. It is very stable with EH 6550. Other gears inlcude Premier 7B, Local unamed silver interconnect ( with DIY DBS system), Cardax Hexlink biwire ( One Hexlink for tweeter and Midrange One 5c for bass, although I thought that it was fake, but they coped very well with each other so I just used it till now.) I am now using a pair of JVC (?) vintage ribbon ad-on tweeter for serious listening. The way of pararelling the tweeter+ a small capacitor to the mainspeaker is not good. Probably the extreme hi freq of P1 is not good. I am now using a separate DIY Hybrid single end OTL amp and the coherence is much better. If you want to join the ATC family, I strongly advise you to get a pair of SCM35. I have listened to them in MK Audio, and they sounded terrific. By the sound quality they should priced double at least.The two ways version like 7, 20 or 20 lost the midrange magic of the soft dome. Welcome to ATC family , and Kung Hei Fat Choi Regards, Peter |
