I bought my pair in early 1980s, after knowing Harbeth from the advertisement and after reading relevant review reports available at the HK dealer (Mellow Hi Fi) at that time. Time flies. :)  |

I may agree and I may disagree. :) Many amps can mean more choices, but at the end of the day, we have a pair of ears only and can hear or use only one set of amps. Even we rotate amps, rotation is usually not more than three sets of amps. So, the amps beyond 3 are extraneous to practical needs. Also, many amps always mean more burden, and in an over-congested environment we can hardly make out good sound or a good mood for listening music. ^^ |

I have not yet have the chance to listen to a McIntosh amp driving Harbeth, but I believe the results should not be bad, given the versatility and very high quality of both. In addition, Harbeth is easy to drive with good music. But the fundamental question behind is perhaps whether the audio system has been properly set up. This includes optimal placement of speakers in a room and proper signal/electrical contacts all through the setup. (I don't mean expensive interconnects a must.) I am still learning. :) |
