Orfeo這張3CD碟專輯收錄了1953年到1963年，德國女高音 Dame Elisabeth Schwarzkopf 獨唱會精華，多數的伴奏都是 Gerald Moore，其中1953年到1964年，Dame Elisabeth Schwarzkopf (1915-2006）在薩爾茲堡音樂節 (Salzburg Music Festival 期間於Mozarteum 舉行10次獨唱會，1953年8月12日，為紀念 Hugo Wolf 逝世50週年所舉行的演唱會，則由 Wilhelm Furtwangler 擔任鋼琴伴奏。

1959年8月16日的盛夏，時任紐約愛樂者樂團(New York Philharmonic Orchestra)的首席指揮 Leonard Bernstein 剛接任NYPO新職，就率領NYPO首次造訪奧地利的薩爾兹堡音樂節 (Salzburg Music Festival)，NYPO在Bernstein 捧下演奏 Bernstein 的第二交響曲 "不安的時代"及 Shostakovich 的第五交響曲"革命"，Bernstein朝氣蓬勃及力竭汗湍的詮譯風格，大大震撼保守而內歛的歐洲觀眾，是次造訪亦為日後 Bernstein進入歐洲古典樂壇奠定基礎，讓Bernstein 指揮維也纳愛樂者樂團(VPO)提供了最好的敲門磚!

Leonard Bernstein 演奏 Shostakovich的第五交響曲"革命"，既代表美國文化以軟實力 (soft power)於冷戰高峯期，對抗以蘇聯為首的華沙勢力，亦符合Bernstein一貫 "音樂無國界、跨越政治分岐"的理念!
