I am really sad to hear this. Telarc is a label that grown up with me.
Although you may comment Telarc as a brand with sound effect only, but they did the job well. If you say that their jazz label has only sound effect, I cannot agree. Many jazz master has been actively release their album only Telarc, said Ray Brown, Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson. Is it a little bite unfair for this comment?

DWS, the industry is really changing. I have heard too many stories about those who study music and cannot earn a living. The general public just takes it for granted that music is FREE OF CHARGE. May be 50 years later, professional musician will disappear on top of the earth. There will be only free lance musician, computer and so called "artist".

Decca seems to be under Universal now. They are releasing hundreds of re-issue to make fast money. It is "suspending salt water". EMI is gone. The next may be Grammophone.
Try to figure out the cost of taking a symphony recording. Let say each musician get $1000 for each rehearsal (that is an insulting pay), you need over 1 million for whole record! Do you think that this is a business? So nowaday most new recording are just live concert. What is the meaning of making such new "take-a-free-ride" recordings?

The only label to revitalize the remains of Decca that I can think of would probably be DG, which still signing & promoting artists worldwide, though their strategies are a bit inclined, presumably aiming developing countries like China, I suppose.

This downward spiral would eventually bring down the "music industry" and then we all return to the old days before recording, when people attending live performance being the only way to have good music. Then epole will realize what is missing and niche recordings will be reborn from ash. It's a full a circle.

Me too!

Here is my another beloved Telarc LP, with Seiji Ozawa and the Boston Symphony Orchestra!

I got the signature from Seji OZAWA on my Telarc LP during his preference in HK back to the year ????, Sorry I can't remember the year well. I was the one occupied at the front of the long line at the exit from the back stage of the Cultural Center. At that time many Japanese fans shouting loud, I did not know what they said, I just keep waving the LP and shouting out "yeah yeah yeah...." to catch Seji OZAWA's attention. These kind of madness and lucky arerarely happens to me! but I got both! ha ha ...... what a crazy SK Tung!

This Telarc LP is more than a record which contains the "heart-blood" of the artist and the crewe, it is also a LP that help to re-call my nice memory when I was young!

I am going to listen the side one, track no. 1.... Spring.

只有音效?
70年代末80年代初係錄音史既黑暗期; 當時可作傳誦既新錄音遠比黃金60年代少....Telarc既出現, 令對手(如DGG, DECCA...)及錄音界重新對很肯定錄音效果既重要性, 亦啟發唔少以"音效"為著但有個性既小LABEL誕生(OPUS 3, RR RECORDS, CLARITY....),
其實, TELARC亦非無藝術性高既製作....但時不與我, 在大師凋零既年代, 強如DGG亦已技窮(尤其卡叔離世後), 又如何與舊世代相比?
個人認為, Telarc仍為錄音史上最重要之其中一品牌.

Among the small collection of Carmina Burana, the Telarc (Stereo DG 10056/57) is the best according to my preference!
