| [#16] SACD 是否將會停產？ Don't know where you get your information.... 72 new SACD titles added to sa-cd.net just in December 2007 http://www.sa-cd.net/additions.php This is not including new SACD released in HK. Sony has already announced new SACDs to be released in 2008. Rock in Music just released Mimi Lo's last album on SACD. Other companies such as Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab has also announced new SACD titles coming in 2008. I think you are thinking of a new version of the Sony PlayStation 3 that doesn't have SACD playback capability. |

| [#18] SACD 是否將會停產？ I think SACD is a 10 to 20% better than CD, and depend you use which SACD player, if you using low end SACD player, you will find the it is even worst that CD, also, the proper way to listen is using 5 speaker surrounding you and gain the best result. I think SACD will be the same result as the DAT in the next few years. For me, i think the USA or Germany made CD is very good enough. |

| [#19] SACD 是否將會停產？ Recently, have seen some facts /reportings from Magazines in US /British / HongKong... , about SACDs., like : - One of the latest British Hi-end company said - would not spend anymore on SACD products investment. - Only two places in the Planet have demands SACDs (profitable) - Japan & HongKong. - Sony (parts factory) stopped all manufacturing of SACD mechanism. So, even if Sony wanted it, it would be out-sourced. So, you see PS3 version & Blu-ray players without SACD capabilities. - Sony has ceased "sponsoring" to those SACD companies (that's why we see many small music labels appeared in forms of SACD, a few years back), so, not more "encouraging funds" or financial support from the giant. They have to survival on SACD sales & pay the SACD royalties as well. And then, we see a lot more "re-issues" in the form of "LPCD45", "XRCD" & "Vinyl CD".. and etc. I guesss, "SACD" has a different positioning (than the Sony's intention), it survived within a niche market (for Audiophiles & People show-off their taste & wealth), for someone who want to set them apart from musicphiles that in group of "Music Downloads", "MP3". The total Sales of SACDs were smaller than LPs !!!! Personally, I have a SACD/CD player, but, I still challenge the published figures of SACD Sales & New SACD labels. Because, they are all "Hybrid" Discs, how do you sure those buyers are buying it because of the "SACD" layer. If those SACDs has no "PCM" layer, the Sales Figures would then be more presentable. Also, we should not count the Universal (Video) Players that has the "SACD player" Sales, that's meaningless. Personally, I buy SACDs because of : - I am looking for re-issues (with better digital & analogue remastering) but appeared only on SACDs. e.g. : Dire Straits, Proprius... . They are all hybrid, and Printed & Re-Mastered by talents at US/EU. - I am looking for re-issues that's not 'HongKong' version or "printed in HongKong" version. Remember all those HongKong manufactured Hybrid SACDs with centre cracks !!! In many of my comparison, DSD layer just sounded different from PCM layer, rarely better. I was expecting a "huge improvement" from DSD against the 20+ years history 16bit/44.1KHz PCM !!! Too bad, there are many cases that the 20+ year history original CD version (no Up-sampling, no DSD, no XrXX, no LPXX) sounded more natural & tonally correct than many latest re-issues. No doubt, many audiophiles shopping around "old" & "original" CDs. I am not an anti-SACD music lover, I don't think "SACD 將會停產". It just would not be a mainstream media (suppose to replace CDs) as Sony's original intention. |
