| [#11] Volent Speaker Very good, well balanced speaker with very good quality, highly expensive drivers. The twin-ribbon tweeter reproduce very nice, smooth highs, though lacking a tint of noble feel relative to much more expensive speaker like Kharma or Avalon's daimond tweeter. One major shortfall - the workmanship on the woodwork are excellent with a major deficiency in the uneven width on the joining of the woods. (Please excuse for my poor English as I don' know how to explain that properly). Highly recommend to anyone with a tight budget. |

| [#12] Volent Speaker 要找到同等分析力, 整體動態及音場, 好多時你都要搵番幾倍價錢既外國貨同佢比. 事實上, 聽得多Volent 既喇叭, 總會覺得大部份display room 都唔夠分析力. 但我個人覺得暫時 Volent VL series, 三路或以上既喇叭, 人聲表現明顯更吸引. |

| [#15] Volent Speaker Sharing my experience with Volent VL-3.5 I am more than happy to share my experience with respect to the Volent VL-3.5. However, please allow me to caveat that I am just a beginner in the hifi arena, also with the lack of better vocabulary, I may not be able to properly convey my idea across. Before deciding on purchasing the Volent VL-3.5, I have listened to various well known brand with prices more than 2 times (or even 3 times) of the Volent. Also, I have been adviced by a few friends be mindful for the resell value. After some serious audition and struggling, I believe it is a matter of personal preference and matching with your existing equipment. On the other hand, I haven’t set any budgetary constraint but have in mind that all those I have auditioned are within range of my capability. What I have before the Volent was a decent pair of Avalon Eidolon Diamond and it was indeed a struggle to sell it, especially that I have been so used to the Avalon sound signature with fine details, noble highs and good quality bass (may not be agreed by some especially those comparing the bass with other speakers which reproducing "quantity" bass), the very nice sounding with airy sound stage did give me enjoyment of music. I know it will be a challenge if I need to find a better pair. Back to the Volent, it was the last pair of speakers I auditioned among other well known brand. The journey to explore my most preferred sound is full of excitement and disappointment, as well as stunning sound signature and neutrality. I consider some of the names were carrying its frame due to their successful predecessors, but the current generation was falling short of my expectation. Just for reference, I have audition Sonus Faber, MBL, Kharma, Wilson Audio and lastly the Volent (also a very brief audition of Magico). Not going to comment their performance but in short, the performance of the Volent will never fall short of anyone’s expectation. From the highs to the lows, the sound stage and control, the Volent is accurate, very well balanced and neutral. Without particular emphasis on any specific frequencies range, the drivers are well selected by Ben (Volent’s designer) and in fact, they are all very expensive one that you can find in other much more expensive speakers. Quoting what Ben told me “ …to come up with a good speakers, good ingredient is very important, and then it is the mastery of the engineer to tune the sound so as to optimized the performance…”. With a 100W YS-Audio power amp (or the 150W Rogue Apollo), the sound stage is very well filling my listening area of 20’L x 13’W x 9’H. The twin-ribbon tweeter, which is a proprietary design, has done a wonderful job in bringing the trebles to match the performance of the much more expensive diamond tweeter. I won’t say it best the diamond tweeter, but it provides you the type of airy highs that may not be easily found in other tweeter. Just to manage your expectation, it sounds to me not as noble (silky) when compare to the black diamond of the Kharma (well very different price tag). In terms of the mid, it is fluid and smooth, both beautifully sound male and female vocals, it is so detail, so lively and real. With respect to the bass, it is very solid and never shy, especially excel in playing my favourite drums, the layout of different instruments are even more vividly placed than my previous speaker, which is more gentle. It gives you the excitement but not the punchy type which may be over-emphasized in other brand. The setting up process is very smooth and professional. Ben came to position the speakers to make sure I have good listening spots within the room. With lots of patience, Ben not only tried to explain the technical stuff in simple layman terms but also provide me with the right material to up-keep the speaker. I can see his enthusiasm in designing and delivering a truthful high quality product. I am sure it can be placed with a much higher price tag judging on the sound quality that it reproduces and will not be shy standing beside other much well known brand. Indeed, there is still room for improvement if Volent would like to be the perfect product, the workmanship can be improved on the finishing, especially in the rim between the front and side panels. I am so satisfied and certain that I have made the right decision, now I can settle down for a long while enjoying my music again! Just my 2 cents and happy listening to all! |

| [#16] Volent Speaker 大力佬兄， Wow, Ben went to your place to set up the speakers for you. The WAMM of old, David Wilson went to the purchaser's place to set up the speakers. But that was HK$1M. Now you get the same service but paying I guess something around HK$0.1M. The midrange is good because of the Air Motion Transformer driver, fast with little inertia. I wonder whether you have listened to the Volent 4. Those were the ones I listened to at Ben's place during two sessions a year ago. Some time later you may like to go to Ben's place and listen to the Volent 4 that have an "improved" sound on what you described for the 3.5. |

| [#18] Volent Speaker Thanks a lot Elo C-Hing and Momei C-Hing! The VL-3.5 use Twin-ribbon tweeter and Ceramic driver instead of the air motion tranducer, which is employed by the VL-4. I have auditioned the VL-4 and I love it. Unfortunately it is a gigantic monster and after discussing with Ben, VL-4 is just too much for my listening area. Truly, the VL-4 is in completely different league, from highs to lows, just everything is of noticeable improvement over the VL-3.5. I love the bass most! However, please be reminded that the mere size and weigh of 300 lbs per speaker is not easy for normal HK household. I wish I have the luxury (space) to house the VL-4, but for the moment, I am going to enjoy my VL-3.5 first. Happy listening! |
