| [#3] 週末狂熱, Saturday Night Fever Everybody remembers the music, the dnacing, the white suit ... but people do forget that this story is actually quite a moving, touching one. It tells the story of a young good-for-nothing punk kid who only lives for dancing. His life is forever overshadowed by the 'success' story of his brother (a priest). But all this seems to change overnight as his brother loses his faith, friends get assaulted, a girl gets raped by his friends, he feels vanquished by a Latin dancing couple, and - especially - as he gets to know an ambitious, but internally fragile dancing partner. Suddenly, he is forced to mature when he sees the futility and emptiness that is all around him. The finale when he finally gives up the personal hell (Brooklyn) and moves to a Brave New World (Manhattan) is powerful and emotional, especially as he comes to terms with his 'girl - friend': that sometimes the bond between man and woman can transcend just sex. This DVD has a wonderfully remastered picture. Yes, you can still see it was filmed in the 1970s, but the defects are all removed, and the result is a clean, easy-to-watch picture. The sound is good, but there is nothing in the soundtrack to really excite. Certainly, there is nothing worthy of a 7.1 system. |
