| [#2243] Quad ESL We made some progress eventually. The remounted bass panel sounded normal with minor crackling noises which we managed to contain the problem. The treble panel has clean sound but the sound level is too low. These are identified to be a problem of non-uniform graphite coating. Patrick has had done this for more than 6~7 times. We are close to there now. Testing of the bass and treble panels together.  |

| [#2248] Quad ESL Dear all, The current December issue of Audio Cite, a Taiwanese magazine, features a long article reporting the development history of QUAD and their latest investment in mainland. It also contains a review on the latest 2905 using 6 sets of different pre + power amp including QUAD 909, Graaf GM20, Patho hybrid etc. They concluded that the latest 2905 is more user friendly and much easier to drive than ESL63. Per writer, they were impressed with 2905's bass extension with real punch while retaining all the goodies of old ESL63 mid range and transparency. I guess I need to attend the QUAD showroom in due course and I'll give you guys a shout if any arrangement. The magazine sells for HK$52. |

| [#2257] Quad ESL Patrick has had done this for more than 6~7 times. ----------------------------------- CP.......That's nothing! I remounted and removed the mylar in the penal of ESL57 almost 20 times before I got it sounded right. The mylar mounting and the conductive substance coating is the most critical portion of the whole process. However, once we got the 1st penal done right, we can just follow the same approch to finish the rest fast and smooth. We don't do chicken right, but we wanted to do penal right! Regds |
