[#2383] Quad ESL Thx Patrick. Nice to chat to you this morning! You are the first person to tell me there's an antenna inside the ESL63! Intersting!

[#2384] Feikeung cp, I honestly think I'm a happier man than I was ten/twenty years ago. I've learned to be content. Going belly up is a good experience --- it allows you to look at things from different angles. I can now see a wider spectrum. It's been a humbling experience.

[#2387] 電車男!! This morning was the N time I visited CP's place. His ESL57 really sang with his Telefunken amplifiers. The ESL57 kicked all CP's speakers away and I have to say thanks to him to remain the LS3/5A when I arrived :-) ![]()

[#2388] Quad ESL Thanks for Gingers, j_l and xwh coming this morning. As usual, Gingers never fail to bring along something. This time the 25A with his new Fisher 50C came visiting the ESL. The ESL clearly showed the 2 different directions the Leak and the Telefunken are going. Just choose your cup of tea. The TFK/ESL has nicely safeguarded the good name of ESL. My visitors were not disappointed.

[#2389] 電車男!! Gingers: the foot-stands of ESL 57 is much much higher than the original ? so the listener's seat is sofa(lower), or chair(higher)? CP hing: as a "green" ESL 57 owner, i hope to visit you earlier(but i have to strive for living on weekdays!)

[#2395] ESL57 arrived Thanks CP for holding a party in yesterday. It has been a great experience to listen to CP's system. Before my visit, I couldn't believe a pair of ESL57 would work with V69 sounded pretty well to me, CP has completely convinced me how good the ESL57 can be. congrat! BTW thanks for Gingers has arranged two great partys for us. Cheers Colin ![]()

[#2396] ESL57 arrived Very very sorry Patrick! Just found out why I can't received your calls, because it shuts down when I shake it. Probably it's time to change my vintage mobile phone (almost five years).

[#2397] ESL57 arrived jcml, That's ok, john. No problem. I will drop by again next time. I was in the final stage of repairing Feikeung's ESL63 penals, and ran out of epoxy yesterday. I was thinking I may as well drop by your house to look at your ESL57 on my way back after I bought the epoxy. I wanted to find out what cause the fuse continue to blown. It could be a torn diaphragm or leaky audio circuit. Anyway, we'll find out. Yes. There is an an antenna inside the ESL63. The purpose is to detect and intercept sparks when occur and short-circuit the speaker input to protect the speaker. The best part I like this design is when the audio input was short-circuited, it will not damage the amp because a load in the circut will take place. How do you like that! Regds Patrick

[#2398] Quad ESL Patrick, Intoxicated by JC's Ongaku, I switched back to the flea powered, SE sounding V73 and listened to female vocals all this morning. I can assure you, with your musical taste and your listening environment, you won't find a better amp than the V73. Now I can't switch it off. I've determined to restore the other pair of V73 and work on the V74 for your enjoyment. If not the V74, I hope Tim's BBA would work well with the V73.

[#2400] Quad ESL I have good news that the V81 has been restored is now just in the process of adding in the balanced interface. We should really have a German amp party soon to see how V73, V81 and V69 compare driving ESL57.

[#2401] Quad ESL restore the other pair of V73 and work on the V74 for your enjoyment. --------------------------------- CP......Althought I didn't had the chance to listen to the famous Ongaku, I turely believe the sound quality of V73/74 is hard to beat for my taste. Are you really wanted to retstore them (don't get me excited!) Diytfy had some discussion in a thread call "45 & 2A3" mentioning the output power of amp vs sound quality. Some said the less output power, the better sound quality. That makes me have the fantasy of trying to push my ESL57 with 2A3. What do you thinks? Regds Patrick

[#2402] Quad ESL We should really have a German amp party soon to see how V73, V81 and V69 compare driving ESL57 ______________________________________________________________________________ Tim, That would be extremely interesting. Can I have the honour to host the party. I fitted in the V410 which is 10W EL84 and it was sort of middle of the road, not as authoritative and the V69 and not as pure as the V73. Would very much like to see how V81 perform. In fact for vocals and small chamber, I prefer the V73, unfortunately it clips at fortissimo for piano, otherwise it is close to perfect, even the timbre of cello is reproduced extremely convincing. I believe we should also test how the BBA compare with the V72 driving these german creatures.
