[#2523] What pre and power amps for Quad ESL-57? Condefly2, I'm not so sure as the 63s in my place aren't operating yet. But I'll put my bet on the V69 which has 25W power in class A and proved to be extremely powerful even in driving the Kharma.

[#2524] What pre and power amps for Quad ESL-57? cpsjj hing, So you will not advise to drive the 63 by SS amp ? I do have a pair of Quad 510 mono blocks that made for the 63's back to the old days that Quad supplied the 63 Pro with the 510 to Phillips for monitor purpose.

[#2525] What pre and power amps for Quad ESL-57? Condefly2 hing, There are a few ss amps which are quite good for 57 and 63, such as Bedini, but definitely not Quad 510. For my taste, I wouldn't recommend any ss amp at all as both the 57 and 63 are so transparent that they reveal even the slightest trace of harshness. The rich harmonics of good tube amps are most suitable for their strengths in recreating the ambient environment.

[#2526] What pre and power amps for Quad ESL-57? cpsjj hing, Bedini ?? You mean the 25W + 25W class A amp ? If so I have to grasp it in my store room and give it a good clean up ! I believe the tube amps will be more suitable for the ESL, I have a pair of D.Klimo Kent mono blocks (PP EL34) and a 6336 amp for my broke down 63Pro. Any idea for the matching ?

[#2527] What pre and power amps for Quad ESL-57? Condefly2 hing, Yes, the Bedini 25/25. I still regret that I sold it more than 20 years ago and I wouldn't hesitate to ask whether you would like to cut love. Regarding your 2 gems, I couldn't comment as I have no experience.

[#2528] ESL57 Speaker Stands Does anyone know where to get Arcici stands for ESL57 speakers? Anyone in use of One Thing Audio wood stands specifically for ESL57?

[#2530] ESL57 Speaker Stands audiofan, I've got a pair of the OTA wood stand but they are prototype, so the finish is rather terrible. If you don't mind, you can take them for a trial first just to appreciate how the 57 sounds when lifted. You'll be amazed.

[#2533] ESL57 Speaker Stands cpsjj, many thanks. Currently, the ESL57s are lifted 19" from floor by local-made two pillars wood stands. Do you have photos of the OTA stands?

[#2534] ESL57 Speaker Stands cpsjj hing, I will contact Dennis if he is convenience to come to visit you with me. BTW, I do have a pair of Arcici stand for my 63. It's no big deal for me to fabricate them in my machine shop if you have the right dimension.

[#2535] ESL57 Speaker Stands cpsjj, I always like to visit your place, but I have to work from Monday to Saturday. It's difficult to come out for a long time. I think v72 is very good sound but don't know how to make it work as a family friendly system.

[#2536] ESL57 Speaker Stands audiofan, Here is a picture of my 57 on the OTA stand. It was quite some time ago, I'm not using them any more so feel free to take them. 19" is far too high! You will lose all the bass. We have experimented with all sorts of heights and even 16" will be too high which is what Patrick used to set with his Arcici. He has now come down to 14". The optimum should be somewhere between 12"~14" depending on your environment. ![]()

[#2537] ESL57 Speaker Stands Cpsjj, Perhaps we can ask Patrick about the Arcici ESL-57 dimension and ask Condefly2 to make it. Then all 57 users will have a good looking stand.

[#2538] ESL57 Speaker Stands jcml, We are actually not that happy with the construction of the Arcici stand and have thought of many ways to improve it. Up to now, I still think this tripod type stand provide the best coupling but I think I still have to adjust their angles and make some bracings at the bottom. ![]()
