[#2546] ESL57 Speaker Stands It's no big deal for me to fabricate them in my machine shop if you have the right dimension. --------------------------------------- The Arcici stand for ESL57 is simple in design and I would say is easy to fabricate. I'll be glad to provide all info for the fabrication. CP was right that we are not that happy with the construction. But so far that is the best stand I have ever seem. I think it will be more rigid if a cross bar is stalled at the back. But I am not sure if it will affect the sound quality. Regds Patrick

[#2549] ESL57 Speaker Stands audifan, Thanks for coming all the way to Yuen Long. I hope you get what you want. Yes, there is really no point getting any exotic stand for the ESL, just raise it up to you required height. But please also note the tilting angle which is also quite important. It's great to meet a truly seasoned audio lover and an opera goer. Audiofan, it's a great waste to leave your V69 inoperable. Would love to see your many other gems as well.

[#2554] EHT boxes This was a pair of OPA ESL offering for $8,500 in second hand market in the last few days. It was really an excellent buy. Providing in proper working condition, I would offer over $12K to double stack my ESL system if I first spoted it but I was not lucky enough to be the first guy. Just the overseas shipping rate will set you back GBP400 (or HK$6,000). The total refurbishment by OTA will put another GBP1,200 (or HK$19,000) on top of the speaker purchase price usually around GBP500 (or HK$8,000). This is a great speaker worths a million dollar sound if you fell in love with its charisma. Or you simply hate it not producing the punchy bass as loud as other boxy speakers. I am using the OTA ESL. The treble panels had fault when I took them home day one. The falt cannot be identified thru visual inspection and you need to perform listening test yourself.

[#2555] Grille Dear ricci, Any possibility to help me to buy a pair of grille in decent condition for my OTA ESL at price lower than the new units from Germany? Failed to meet last time. Any chance to meet together again with Hon, Gingers, Patrick, cp etc. in lunar new year.

[#2557] ESL57 Speaker Stands many thanks for your hospitality and enlightment on ESL and other gears ___________________________________________________________________________ Audiofan, That's a most embarrassing comment. I didn't even have time to have lunch with you and my unusually busy schedule today seemed to have driven you away. I'll try to compensate for that the next time you come.

[#2558] ESL57 Speaker Stands CP, Where and how to make the 'tall leg' for the ESL-57? Is it the same proportion of the 'short' one?
jcml 220.xxx.xxx.124 |
2007-01-24 21:11 |
[#2559] ESL57 Speaker Stands jcml, I made them out in China. In fact the rear one need to be slightly longer than their original proportion to suit the tilting angle that I prefer. If you try to make those, I'll suggest you follow the original proportion and then shim the rear leg for your best tilting angle. Make sure they follow the slanting angle of the stock feet.

[#2560] ESL57 Speaker Stands They are ready ___________________ jcml, Patrick and I had a discussion and if we can have your consent, we would like to fit one OTA treble panel first and then compare with your most original using mono source, so as to clear our doubt whether the OTA treble panel sounds the same as the original Quad panel.

[#2561] ESL57 Speaker Stands Sure! CP. But my place is small, pre and power are low-end to justify their difference. You are welcomed to take them to your place for comparision.

[#2562] ESL57 OTA panel CP, Can you advise me where you found the OTA panel? I think you are probably right, the best stand height so far we'd experienced is between 12" and 14" for optimal bass as well as sound clarity from ESL57. I wish to try 16" again in a larger room as we only attempted this height in a small Clubhouse karaoka room last time. Did you attempt this height? Look like we are talking about high jumping..... I wish to learn more how chief editor YK Chan arriving his conclusion of not exceeding 8" for optimal bass from ESL. It seems our preference contradicting to his finding. Anyway, we should not ignore his findings and I guess he must have some ground we need to attend to.
