| [#2683] Message from London Are you a medical doctor or a PhD holder? --------------------------------------------------- well, when i was young, i really like to title Dr. that probably started with the Dr. Who TV series. however i couldn't stand the sight of blood so i have to resort to the other Dr. Birmingham! Were you there when Simon Rattle took over the City of Birmingham Sym. Orchestra? Rattle is one of my favourite conductors these days, his Mahler cycle is a must listen. -------------------------------------------------- yes. i heard him live. well i couldn't afford the better seats so i only managed to see his back! he was just a young lad then at that time hardly known at all. |

| [#2684] Message from London I was in Birmingham too, between 81-83 at University of Aston in Birmingham - Business School. I still remember the Bull Ring Shopping Mall, a very old and rundown place. But now, the Bull Ring is one of the most futuristic looking building in Europe.  |

| [#2687] Message from London Powercord Greetings from HK! I don't think there is anything wrong with Dennis' ESL57 at all. They sounded quite good with the 27M pre and Leak ST20 amps which brought back some sparkle and brighter treble. CP: Last time when I was in Tottenham Court Road, I found only one serious hi fi shop which is HI Fi Experience, the rest are all AV shops. To be honest, I don't find many good hi fi shops in England anymore since most of them sell mid priced hi fi but a lot more expensive than HK. I haven't been to Limage's place yet, but certainly will pay him a visit some time. Richard and John K have mentioned about the Ongaku amp which will be an interesting experience. It is Chinese new year's eve today in HK, wish you happy new year and good health. REgards Hon |

I am trying to identify the cause during CNY and probably arrange a service for my amp after the holidays. I increased the ESL tilting angle and it's getting better but not ideal yet. Happy Year to you, CP and all friends in UK. Dear JC, I did not know you were UK boy as well. I returned to HK in 1987 and never having a chance revisiting the olds faces in UK again.
