Just wonder where we may have an audition. The King looks awfully similar to my MG 3.5 and it does arouse more than a few passing whims in me to consider changing over to the electrostatics without my wife even knowing it at all. |

| [#2895] Electrostatic loudpspeakers Just wonder where we may have an audition _____________________________________________ limage, I've sent an email enquiry for an auditioning arrangement. Just waiting for their reply. I like the one with chinese paintings. It's ideal to partition off the sitting room and the dining room. Gingers, I went to Patrick's again yesterday together with Dennis, Edmund, Condefly and Lee. Patrick has now raised the speakers with soft drink cans and the bass is not as muddy. The 2 channels have now balanced and to me, the soundstage seemed to have a bit of improvement. Midrange is still miles apart with the 57. As the original midrange panel has not been repaired yet, it still couldn't play loud and at certain bass frequency, it just cracked. Dennis et al blamed the less than ideal front-end to be the cause of the coarse midrange. We'll bring a better front-end next time. |

I decided to listen to them for a longer time before I make any changes. It sounded pretty good after I raised them a bit. It can play loud without problem. The only drawback is it can not play drum beating (CP's 天下弟一鼓). May be this type of speaker is not for that kind of drum beating. John Lo visited me today and he seems like the performance very much. I will call Feikeung tomorrow and will invite him for an audition and will ask his opinion. You are welcome to visit me again for a 2nd audition. Regds |

| [#2902] ESL63 Patrick, Morning! Your handiwork has provided itself great, albeit without the support as a QUAD factory. I wonder what is the official standard of performance of a QUAD ELS63/57, particularly in bass and loudness? 天下弟一鼓 may not truely reflect the sort of requirments, likewise Tsoi Chin's 渡口, etc. that many like to play with as a test standard. It is wise to invite experienced ears to listen before you decide the action forward. Cheers! |
