[#2983] ESL 63 Feikeung, I am sure you would join Patrick to become one of our happiest men of the year when you pop over to Patrick's place to audition your new born baby ESL63. I guess Patrick is now tuning up your ESL63 with benchmarking on his newly owned EL63 pro. So a little more patience. You know I have two pair ESL57 in hand. I wish to ready the basic set up of the stacked system for comment by all proud ESL plus Maggies owners particularly YOU, Patrick and CP, our ever ESL experts, hopefully by end of this year. Your 1/2 day visit to King's factory is really tempting and I wish to join but it would depend on my roster. I hope to match when date is available. Hon, I guess my QUAD II had lost all the treble last time when you came. Now I have my QUAD II taking a major service and hopefully it will recover when your next visit. Powercord, Your advice is badly needed. Now I have two pairs of original 57, serial numbers all begin with 43XXX. The newly acquired pair currently staying in Patrick's temp workshop is almost as mint as Patrick's one. The other pair to be shipped back from Canada is a NOS and still sealed in the boxes. Any advice how to hook them up with QUAD II. Will you suggest using 2 pairs of QUAD II or simply single pair QUAD II to drive the stacked QUAD ESL57 for best result? If former is suggested, I can utilize the 2 outputs from my phono to drive two separate QUAD II/22 system. But the problem is that I have to find out 8 matched VT75 ot KT66. Last but no least, any of your suggestion how to tilt the ESL in a stacked ESL57 system? Best wishes to you all Dennis

I would be interested to listen when your double-Q is properly set up. |

[#2986] ESL 63 Dennis, One more point to help your experiment with double-Q, I can lend you my pair of QUAD II in case you try 2 pairs of QUAD II. My pair has been fully restored. Not only mathcing VT75/KT66, but also matching QUAD IIs. Haha, you go a lot "fun" ahead!

[#2988] ESL 63 Quys, What exactly are the difference between ESL63 and ESL63 Pro? Is it more safety/protection? Which one sounds better?

[#2990] ESL 63 Dennis, Double QUADs (ESL-57x2, ie, ESL-63 can not be stacked) are just magnificent. In terms of mid range coherence and the ability to reproduce small scale strings, ESL-57s are essentially unrivalled, period. The ESL-63s excel in image depth, which is also unrivalled, but come no where close to the good old ESL-57 when it comes to playing Paganini’s……. You need to knock off the side wall to accommodate your Double Quad. They need room to breath.

[#2991] ESL 63 Dear Tim, I understand from Patrick that both the structural part and panel mounting method of 63pro had been strengthened. Apart, they don't have too much difference between. Perhaps jcml can share more of his ESL63 experinece with us.

[#2993] ESL 63 Dear Dennis, Look forward to hear your Double Quad! I totally agreed with Feikeung's opinion on Quad ESL-57 and ESL-63. Speaking of the difference betwen ESL-63 and ESL-63 Pro, I only know the Pro version has stronger frame and wider opening etc. If the ESL-63 US Monitor is the same as the ESL-63 Pro internally, then I have some experience. The ESL-63 US monitor sounds clearer, a little more detail and better sound stage than the ESL-63. Their difference is not big, not like ESL-57 and ESL-63 (they are two different animals).

[#2994] ESL 63 I'm the one that remain static, including (electro)static. CP, spark is caused by accumulation of electrostatic. As you remains static and your place stacked with QUAD ESL speakers, you might give us a shock someday.

[#2996] ESL 63 In terms of mid range coherence and the ability to reproduce small scale strings, ESL-57s are essentially unrivalled, period. ---------------------------------- It reminds me a small party held at home recently whereby the visitors are diehard SS amps fans. One guy commented: "this speakers cannot play (vocal) at night, it will frigthen people". Another guy said: "the ambience & airy is first class" after the track #5 of tsai chin's "jing pian jei" played.

[#3002] ESL 63 I suggest 1 pair of Quad II This is the set up I am using and I have not problem with that for 2 months. I think if you use 2 pair of monoblocks, you lose the meaning of stacking Just my opinion Regards Powercord
