[#3124] Quad ESL Does "Dynamics" mean diytfy is all the time searching for his desirable sound? __________________________________________________________________________ Though there are traces of sarcasm here, nontheless it states a tautology. Who in this hifi world is not constantly going after his ideal sound within his own limited resources. If one could genuinely settle happily with his gears, he would have never started the endless hifi journey altogether. One who stops halfway as if he has reached the zenith is just giving in; mocking other's pace of change is not catching up.

[#3125] Quad ESL richard hing, my system sound different everydays^__^ few years back I start to play 'mellow' choke load, dht..etc recent years I found many setups lack of 'live' 'presence' 'punchy' of the real. I now want Jazz drums kicking on the face, classic adagios screening out from behind. very involving.

[#3127] Quad ESL63 & 57 Hi There......Here is updates on my projects: Feikeung's ESL63- Everything except the dust cover have completed. Reason being is wrong type of mylar for the dust cover. Meanwhile, CP is out sourcing for the right type. I have been playing the speaker without the dust cover. The sound quality gets better and better over times. It will be forwarded to CP's place upon Feikeung's approval latest by day after tomorrow. Will continue to play without dust cover. Allan's ESL63- Re-mounting of all the panels of Allan's ESL63 have almost completed. Mylar specification used same as Feikeung's ESL63. Final installation will start in the matter of days. Dennis' ESL57- Good news for Dennis. All panels tested in good working condition. I will install new dust covers on all panels. Some parts in audio transformer were out due to age. I will replace all parts in the audio transformer as well as the EHT units. Here are some photo to share with you. ![]()

[#3134] Quad ESL63 & 57 Dennis, Congratulations on your perfect pair of 57 at bargain price. That must be bargain of the year. Allan and I went listen to the fully restored 63 the other day and I'm now fully convinced of the potential of the 63. However, Allan did show a preference to the 57 and if you will be letting go the extra pair of OTA 57, may be Allan will be happy to swap with you.

[#3135] Quad ESL63 & 57 Dear Patrick, It's always a pleasure to see you restore Quad ESL. Would it be better to use high voltage resistors for the audio transformer?

[#3136] Quad ESL63 & 57 Would it be better to use high voltage resistors for the audio transformer? ------------------------------ I would think so! Because the voltage in the Audio Transformer is very high. Edmound is helping Dennis to get the resistors, caps and the diodes. I forget to mention the restoration of my ESL63. It will under the lowest priority. Regds

[#3137] Quad ESL63 & 57 Congratulations on your perfect pair of 57 at bargain price. That must be bargain of the year. ---------------------------------- A little bit over 4K dollars with perfect front and back grilles. Date of first sold approx. 1980 to 81. All panels in perfect condition without any burnt mark or arc. Can anyone beat that?

[#3138] Quad ESL63 & 57 Dear Patrick, I don't know how to say about your personality. You are so kind in helping friends. I think high voltage resistors will make it last longer. I am still thinking to add a clamping board (or gas discharge arrestor) to help protect the treble panel.

[#3140] Quad ESL63 & 57 Resistor are usually rated at power consumption i.e Watt. Only capacitors are can be measured in different voltage.

[#3141] Quad ESL63 & 57 Thanks for yr info Edmound. I think 2 watts resistors will be safe for Dennis' esl57.
