| [#3457] MAF stand for Quad ESL-57 Dear all, With assistance from Edmund and Patrick, we carefully moved Feikueng's pair of Ferrari Graaf and CP's TVC passive pre-amp form Patrick's place to my place today. We spent 15 mins to set up and took an hour for a quick listening. Results: 1. Problem first Totally disorder and out phase when first connection. After checking and put the balance switch on, everything is back to the finest order and I heard the most transparent amplication and sound since my move to ESL speaker. 2. Good news When driving the ESL57, I have found my Linn Linto phono amp has sufficient gain with TVC and OTL although the last ounce of punchy bass is not there probably the character of passive pre-amp. Feikeung, no need to bring any pre-amp. Let me assure you that CP's TVC mates beautifully well with your Graaf even when playing LP phono. The Music First TVC pre-amp and Graaf OTL works perfectly well with the ESL57. I guess that could be one of the final paradise dreams to electrostatics speaker users if not hell to those with no deep pocket like me. Meanwhile, I need to cut my lunch meal to save for a Graaf GM20 and a TVC. Ah, need more fund to buy some expensive interconnector now. |
