[#3563] OTL vs TVC vs ESL57 dkyyu, This is the "music chair" that I have at home. It fits my "slim" body better. The reclining backrest makes it easier to adjust to the best listening position, particularly important for ESL. You're right that Gingers might not fit! ![]()

[#3567] OTL vs TVC vs ESL57 LW, Glad to meet you at Dennis'. That was a great little passive preamp that you made. It certainly has a much better price performance ratio that the TVC. The mid range is very outstanding, full bodied and lucid. There seemed to be a slight roll off at the upper range and I think that might be caused by the cables. This is always the problem of resistor based passive coupled with the capacitance of cabling forming a high frequency filter. Do you have any information regarding its input impedance? You are most welcome to my cubby hole at any time. My ESL does sound a little different to Dennis'.

[#3568] OTL vs TVC vs ESL57 cpsjj: Absolutely. I might have recalled incorrectly the brands, but I shall have an assortment of XLR cables for you. Incidentally, I shall be free tomorrow (Wednesday). If you're free, perhaps I can come to your loft before you go home and hoist back the 2 panels. Time is at your convenience; shall call you in am. limage: How was the Apogee visit I heard about?????

[#3569] OTL vs TVC vs ESL57 If it is the only reason why I have never been invited to your place __________________________________________________________________________ Gingers, You are putting salt on my wound. I was driven out of my music room by my kids. I tried to take over the seating room like you do but unfortunately my AV system comprises of a Acurus powerful amp and my wife always compete with me on sound level whenever I switch on the audio. The only time we can come to a compromise is to watch music DVD. That is why I am always early to the office and stay out late. May be Charles also has the same problem.

[#3571] OTL vs TVC vs ESL57 CP I had the same problem before but I outfought it eventually :-) I think you should know what WAF is? By doing something your WAF will be high :-)

[#3572] OTL vs TVC vs ESL57 By doing something your WAF will be high ______________________________________________ Gingers, My WAF is very high; I hope. It's the system that has a low WAF. The solution is of course to get rid of it. Otherwise, the system will have to share my WAF! This is a zero sum game!

[#3573] TVC vs LW-1 CP, Nice to meet you. Your TVC is a great product, it was a new experience to hear a well engineered transformer couple can have a wide soundstage, much quiet in background noise. The TVC while is inductive in nature, its presentation is very different to my LW-1. I agree resistive base passive may have high frequency roll-off. Bu on the other side, inductive element like TVC also have limited bandwideth, inductive are with energy storage. There are trade off in passive, that is why I perfer resistive base. Thanks for your invitation to audition in your home, I certainly will bring LW-1 & my new DAC project to try out in your system. I like boxless speaker design, like ESL57, ESL63.I may start the open buffle project soon like you did before, hope to learn more from you. LW

[#3576] OTL Dennis and Patrick, Thanks for bringing the Modenas tomorrow. I'll sure spare adequate space for the Ferraris. We will then have ample opportunities to compare side by side teh bridged and stereo versions, and mate them with different preamps as well. Oh, shall I get a few of Edmund's Aston Martin ignition cables? They seem to match perfectly with the Graaf.

[#3577] Maggies THANK YOU: -to Feikeung, for lending me the Maggie 12.1! -to cpsjj and relax173, for helping me with getting them to my home. I connected them to: -MELOS 222 + ADCOM 555-II Sound fills the room. It doesn'e quite sound like limage's merry widow kinda sound, but it has an attraction its own. Sounds like somewhere between my defunct SMGa and the 3.5/3.6. I shall not be ashamed of any challenge from the Quad crowd. Biy, I miss my planars ever since I accidentally dented my SMGa!

[#3579] Maggies cpsjj: Thank you so much! I hope I can manage a Houdini's act and join you fellows tomorrow. If not necessarily tomorrow, before I return to the USA in mid-June, I'd like to ask the ESL/Maggie crowd to come and "appreciate" my "alternative" methods of hifi no-no's. CD's vs LP's. Lunch or dinner, but not both, on me! The 12.1 just sailed through "Jonny Cash at Fulsome Prison" and Radiohead's "Pablo Honey"! Now it's Bruckner's 9th! No, I haven;t yet fine-tuned for "Moonlight Serenade" nor "Midsummer Night's dream"...... ![]()

[#3582] Maggies Dear CP, Your Basculant Chair by Le Corbusier was once ranked first on my collection list but I was offered with a pair of the Italian made Wasilly chairs instead at a very very attractive price. The back panel of your lovely music chair has the adjustable inclining feature and I would consider this is an excellent choice for those serious Maggie 3.5 users as well. I am afriad Edmund's Aston Martin would be driven away by 007 fairly soon. Anyway, I was told they are only ordinary computer cables where you could get a dozen from Golden Plaza. Perhaps from now on, we may have to consider connecting all our powercords to computers for proper run-in before audio use. Edmund, Would you mind telling us what's your computer model?
