I went to the Chen Sa concert on Friday. Must say she looks much prettier in person than in pictures. Her gestures on the piano is exuberant and graceful, yet other than that, she looks more like a farmer girl. Not the type you guy are familiar with, i.e. wearing a cowboy hat and a hot pant laying spread out on a pile of hay.

Chen had an exhilerating performance yet the Philharmonic, especially the strings, gave a dull support. De Waart always has a huge contrast in pianissimo and fortissimo, but in between, the melodic line is very faint.

The not to be missed, not so beautiful but charming Midori playing the Brahms violin concerto. In fact, to me, Midori looks very much like the midget in James Bond's movie, is it "the man with the golden gun"?

A good chance to compare with Hilary Hahn. I was told the other day that Hahn was very ill last Friday and struggled to make it to the stage which affected her performance.

Another young and beautiful, Alison Balsom will be playing Hummel's trumpet concerto. Balsom is the best young British performer of 2006 and Listens' Choice winner in the 2006 Gramophone Awards.

In the same concert, David Atherton will be conducting the Shostokovich Symphony No.7. To my surprise, the HKP has taken my advice so quickly; the HKPO musicians will share their insights on the programme during the concert.

Glad to know that you have restored Allan's ESL63 again and brought them to new height.

I have listened again to feikeung's 63 yesterday with Gingers and Richard and definitely the 63s were still not up to scratch. We might have to do it again with your new found skills. I am checking the availability of 3 micron mylar film and hope we can restore with this thickness. But anyhow I still recommend that we should use the 5 micron as dust cover rather than anything cheaper.

I should have waited for your audition to our Master newly restored 63s before I took them back. You see our Mrs Patrick is getting a little impatient to accommodate two massive black objects in the cozy living, that will be consequence to serving me NO COFFEE during our next visit. It comes to me a surprise that the new 63s offer a more refined top-end and detailed midrange. Of course you must hear to believe it. Since our Master only restored 2 treble panels of my 63s with his new found skills, I have high hope that the fully restored Master's 63s would be overwhelming – another new height is not far away.

CP's remark is valid.

Frankly, the sound from that pair of ESL63 was heard as if from the next door.

High power was pumped into that pair of ESL63's by the Graaf OTL, the sound was so distant and mild. We switched back to CPs' ESL57 pair within minutes. The sound was thundering in playing the Terandot!

I know ESL63 should not be that timid. So, that pair must be re-looked at, frankly.
