Dear dr King,

Welcomed home.

I must tell you that your DIY silver interconnects sounds great in my audio chain even in its registered first 10-hours on the mileage clock. I am not certain whether this is the result of short cable length or there is positive effect from Dieter and Tim's BBA, but I am sure it sounds equally well at least in the level of KCAG silver if not better or simply outperform a stock Linn copper cable in all aspects. I wish you could tell me how to crone few more in various length for comparison.

Tim's BBA works wonderfully well with the TVC. With decent tubes installed, I guess it's performance attains to true high-end level. I would urge myself to compare this combo with your 27M and Nagra PLP as these two active pre-amp are the best few I've ever heard for bechmarking purpose.

After some comparison, I've found the Mullard ECC88 sound best in Graaf GM20 than TFK ECC88 and gold pin Siemen E88CC. I have not tried the CCA yet

For the ECC88/E88CC, do take your time to compare but please do not put too much money on it first.

There are just too many brands, versions and vintage that your can spend a fortune in tube rolling before getting to the one you want. We can arrange a different party to roll tubes on the Graaf in the future.

How wonderful you gentlemen are.

Dear Tim,
I must admit, your BBA is a real gem when partnering with my TVC or most possibly with other 99% passive-pre on the market. It escalates my TVC to a new height without sacrifying much on passive pre's strength, that is the "transparency". The variable gain in particular, is the icing on the cake. I finally settle the gain at 2:00 am using maxi volume output level.

I haven't try it with active pre yet. It could most probably saves me from buying the expensive Nagra without a pity.

Dear dr King,
Your DIY cable is another surprise of the century to my ears. Fully natural, more focus and deeper sound stage.

I wish to try 1.5M using silver bullet plugs for comparison with my 1.5M KCAG. I must insist that you should let me absorbing all the cost including the last one you made for my trial otherwise I shall be feeling very guilty.

Doctor and Tim,

Last but not least. Fancy a bottle of beer, wine, Puer tea or all three at my place any Saturday (except 11/8) in August? I wish to share King's cable and Tim's BBA to you both.

1.5M is bit long. anyway, you don't have to go all the way to use silver bullet plugs. i bought some chinese made silver plated rca plugs from ap liu street. they are very robust and well made. how about using that first?

Yes, I still have a number of balance cables despite I have sold all the expensive ones. I suppose the input of your buffer is also xlr. The convention the V series uses is 1=0, 2=+, 3=-. In fact, this applies to all my equipment except the Modena which is 2=-, 3=+. It has rca input though.

Just stick everything to rca then. I've wired the V69 to accept rca, i.e. both input and output of your buffer in rca.

Are you trying to experiment with CD/buffer/TVC/V69 compared to CD/V72/V69; that will be interesting.

In fact I'm trying every means to get an alternative to the V72. Other than to experiment with timtube's BBA, I've just bought an MF X10v3 (tube buffer with only 1dB gain) and fixing up a power supply for a pair of active fader.

Can't sky away from office this Friday. I can only be able to make it this Saturday or Sunday.

Given the sigificant positive result from BBA, I have obtained the permission from Tim keeping his BBA in my home place forever. So we have plenty of time.

I think the BBA with good tubes installed and the provision of gain control plus TVC like yours will give a hard time to most active preamps. Hope to hear to the head-to-head comparison soon.

I guess any lenth between 1M and 1.5M is fair enough to do justice for the quick cable length exercise. I guess the longer the cable, the more I can hear the difference against the reigning 0.5M.

BBA's expert Dieter told me the length of audio cable won't matter much after BBA. But I did hear some difference between copper and your DIY silver. Well, I guess your DIY cable should produce more sonic performance improvement in other normal systems.

I think I prefer to your cable and KCAG in equal preference after a quick audition among 1.2M Linn copper, Kimber KCAG 0.5M and your 0.5M DIY. It simply rule out the Linn copper in 10 seconds. I was wondering why such a cheapie look cable can match with the reknown ones, there must be something you have done right. I have plan to compare more of your DIY with others this week.

I guess your DIY cable can give most branded RCA imterconnectors below $5K per meter for a run of the money. Wait Wait. I shouldn't conclude yet until try out with your 1.5M to eliminate the possible advantage of exceptions of extra short cable length.

I hope I can invite you to come along to hear your cable yourself.
