[#723] Quad ESL Oh forgot to tell jcml, Serviced pair of Quad directly from Quad UK / OTA would be about 900-1100 pounds depending on your luck. And it cost a fortune for shiupping to Hong Kong, about HKD4000, I think. So the total for a ''perfect' pair from UK can be around $20000. But the excitement? I think worths much more. I have heard a pair of Offrande not long ago. I still like Quad ESL57 more.

[#730] Quad 10L speaker Dear limage, It's the first Quad dynamic speaker. Quad designed this small speker many years ago using ESL63 as reference. Made by Spendor and about the size of 3/5A. You can see it at: http://www.arcticcorsair.f9.co.uk/audio/kit/quad-7710Ls.html

[#735] Quad ESL Patrick crowns himself king when his bozz and kid take vacation in the States. I find him more a poor lonely man having to cook for himself and a steadfast slave of his hifi. It is hard to imagine how, by a single soul's effort, can he dismantle a 8' TV cabinet, move the sofa and everything aside, disassemble the ESL/Arcici and set up everything in the sitting room again in 24 hours. Gingers and I spent 12 hours with Patrick yesterday to "fine tune" the ESL for the Tuesday party. Instead of moving the ESL around, 90% of the time, we were sitting in the sofa like a king, being served by Patrick with loads of CDs and LPs. The only minor complaint is that we don't have the fresh brewed coffee anymore. It is interesting to note Gingers and Patrick do have a lot in common in their favourite repertoire. Eventually we managed to achieve a satisfactory soundstage which must be 10 times better than in Patrick's magic cubicle. Even Gingers, the hard-nosed LS3/5a guru, comes to agree that the soundstage, ambience and dimensions recreated by the ESL are much better than the 3/5a. Being hard-nosed, he still prefers the vocal of 3/5a, claiming it's more passionate or "tasteful", in his own words. Those who come to the party on Tuesday, if still are not happy with the best compromise we can achieve within the constraints, shall at least appreciate the heart and efforts Patrick has put in. I start to feel sorry about Patrick having to endure the predicament of a more compromised performance of the ESL in his cubicle after the return of the real king, having had enjoyed a stretched out ESL for a few weeks.

[#736] Quad ESL Without Gingers' help and his legendary and lethally toxic Leak 12.1, we could not have achieved what we had yesterday. Patrick didn't have the antidote so he turned down Gingers' offer of leaving behind the 12.1. I believe Patrick is scared off by Gingers' constant posting of his toxic chamber and Patrick knows pretty well that if he spend more than 24 hours with the 12.1, he will end up in a similar situation and his magic cubicle will become a miracle to house 20+ monsters together with the ESL. Without the 12.1, Patrick is relying on my V72/V73 to recreate what we had before. Wait, it's 4W against 12W and the opt of the 12.1 must be 10 times bigger. Now I "HAVE PRESSURE, HAVE PRESSURE". I must say the poor lonely man still have a lot of influence on his boss. He can make his better half to hand carry a 6 year old kid and 2 monstrous mono blocks back from the States. He even offer to make her to carry another class A amp for me. Thanks Patrick. I'm "red-eyed".

[#738] Quad ESL Thanks CP and Gingers for their effort for yesterday's rehearsal. I must agree the end result is 10 times better than my magic cubicle. Special thanks to Gingers for his effort to bring in the wonderful sounding Leak 12.1. and thanks to John Lo for coming. I truely believe the ESL57 can perform even better if space constraint is not a problem. Dismantle the 8' wall unit is not a problem. I've been doing it for many times since the past few years. I plan to e-mail a photo of how our sitting room looks now to my better half to see how she thinks. OK. now everything is ready. May I have you gentleman re-confirm our Tuesday July 18 listening session. I understand Gingers will not be able to attend. So far I have: Michael. Limage. Rcwy. Dennis. CP. Wah gor. Feikeung. Edmond. John Lo. jcml. Please let me know if I missed anyone. Thanks to CP and Wah gor in advance for bringing in the poisonous V72/73. See you guys !!! Patrick
