| [#783] Quad ESL Banish the idea, as I am relatively immure ________________________________________________ I thought I was solidly immune before I heard Gingers' Leak TL12.1 driving the Spendor LS3/5a 15 ohm. |

| [#788] Quad ESL The Queen of KT66 from UK bowed out to the german prince this time. Should the prince be coming from Denmark, it would have been "captured" by the queen. Whether the queen would eventually approach the king, the 25A, and call out "Love" like Turandot did and the prince then be beheaded is waited to be seen. After all, the V73 is only the smallest in the V-royal family. It was altogether enjoyable. I believe limage will be briefed thoroughly by rcwy on everything about vintage equipment. We look forward to check out limage's music enclave with the more modern set up. Hang on gingers and rcwy, why don't we bring some good old vintage stuff and poison limage. After all, the Magneplanar IA and CJ Premiere 1 are quickly becoming vintages anyway. Everybody brought out silly suggestions of how Patrick could capture the sitting room for music enjoyment for good, as we are all concerned how Patrick can bear the more compromised sound in his cubicle again after enjoying the goodies. Gingers rightly pointed out after all Patrick loves his family more than his hifi, and his sacrifice will be more than rewarded by a sweet happy family. ------------------------------------------- I can't agree more. Excellent writing of CP.. I love it. But perhaps only the 7 who attended can read exactly what CP wrote. In a nutshell, Patrick loves his family first, his ESL57 second, and audio third. Within these confines, the 7 searched the best 3-D spot but failed at the end. It is a fun game and friends-making gethering! I am happy to know Ivan, who has lots of exposure in audio, a celebrity audio enthusiast in fact. :) |

Anyway, we can fix the date/time off board. If I can get CP or JL's help, I may bring to your house the 27M preamp to compare with your solid state preamp in aspects including definitions and stage image. Kind regards, Richard |

| [#802] Quad ESL Before enjoying a few days of wildlife starting this late afternoon, I made my last dip into the cultural world by visiting the Che Keng Tuk Concert Hall last evening. I was treated with a magnificent variety show featuring Du Pre, Belafonte, Schwarzkopf, Arnold, Atherton/Dallas, Haitink/VPO, Syeryng, Siesta, Marriner/ASMF et al, together with Kiseki/Technics, EAR, Passlab, CJ and Maggies under the baton of music director Maestro limage. It was an eye opening experience how the slender Maggies performed exactly as wanted by Maestro limage just as Furtwangler directing the Berliner. The size of the stage changed with every artist as appropriate and the timbre of every instrument was accurately produced. A Strad is a Strad, a Guarneri is a Guarneri, a Steinway is a Steinway and Schwarzkopf is Schwarzkopf, all performing at the peak condition. My only minor complaint, as I always have, is some of the time the first violinists were standing up too high and should be seating down more properly. Said is always easier than done. How to make to them sitting down is beyond me. I'll leave this to Maestro limage. An interview with the maestro after the concert also impressed me a lot, not only on the skills of taming the shrew but more on limage's mission and vision of introducing music or music reproduction to the younger generation. I wish I could assist in any way. Next time limage will be coming to my dai pai dong Pawn Shop (no air-con). Since limage and I have a similar repertoire, how to make him happy with the V72/V69/ESL is going to be a BIG challenge. Photo taking is prohibited in the Che Keng Tuk concert hall so I borrowed a picture from rcwy. ![]() |
