[#1283] Quad ESL CP, Except the very few amps winning in different aspect, the QUAD II/22 is almost unbeatable in terms of price to performance when partnered with ESL57. I heard the ESL went into clipping when playing loud music passage such as Julsang. I first suspected the underpower QUAD II but finally noticed it was the bloody hell problem of the inferior Karma cartridge. The 4watt German is the most sweetest and seductive amp with the ESL. It could be the final choice if it drove the ESL as well as the Leak 12.1. The LEak and M9 are both great amp but just lacks the final human touch the little German amp did the pleasing job to my ears. When partner with LS3/5s, no doubt the Leak, whether 25a or 12.1, all show their greatest strength. They are LS3/5a best match. The QUAD is a compromise, easy and dirt cheap (relatively speaking) around with plenty of parts available from internet. I would say the QUAD II/22 is an all-rounder judging its humble selling price. One can upgrade the QUAD 22 simply by fitting a pair of made in gt Britian and old Mullard logo CV4004. However, it not easy today to find a pair of original and healthy units.

[#1286] Quad ESL drive the power amp driectly with a Quad CD player and concluded that the best combo is Quad II Classic driving ESL57! _______________________________________________________________________________ Is the input sensitivity of Quad II Classic lower than the original Quad II? I have used cdp directly to Quad II as well as with a passive preamp; they didn't come any close to a Quad 22! ----------------------------------- Did Ken use Quad 99CDP which has the variable output?

[#1289] Quad ESL The One Thing Audio ESL bidding ended at GBP1575 last night, buyer from Australia. Good price for good product. Powercord, Thanks to the great assistance from OTA expert, I have received the treble panels from OTA and Patrick helped me to replace the old pair today. I think the previous unopen sound problem is fixed but unfortunately one speaker is found much louder than the other. I guess I may need to run in for another few days before conclusion. Later I shall post some triple X porno photo took by Patrick while we were stripping off the OTA ESL clothing this afternoon. My old and original ESL will leave tomorrow, I shall miss them very much and I am sure the new owner, mda, will take good care of them. I also want to express my big thanks to Patrick for his master operation job and all the nursery work and assistance provided from Edmund, Wah Gor and CP. They are great people help me thru.

[#1290] Quad ESL I think Patrick, Woh Gor and CP have done most of the work. My present would only let Patrick pay more attention to me not ruining the wrap which is very crucial to the performance of treble and bass panels. I wonder how Patrick can be so proficient in dismantle and assembly all components of ESL 57. Look likes he has done it thousand times.

[#1291] Quad ESL The OTA expert replied me in a timely manner. Quick response. They are real professionals. The treble panels Steve sent me was within 0.5db which was under 24 hrs soaked test. The problem was therefore not the treble panel. We suspect the problem lies in the rectifier or audio transformer resister. Will carry out second inspection later next week. Meanwhile, I am carrying on my speaker burn in routine hopefully to catch up the time when our friend Hon returning in October.

[#1296] Quad ESL I confess I've done absolutely nothing except using my ears. Patrick's done a great operation doing the heart transplant and the patient was singing the next second. Poor Dennis was under pressure to strip his darling Quad in front of us but he apparantly enjoyed doing that from the way he violently tore down the cloth. The cloth is just good enough for 2 pcs of napkin for the baby but cost GBP20 from OTA.
