| [#1326] Quad ESL Powercord, If you met OTA, please update Steve our progress to ease their mind. Patrick will visit my ESL and check the voltage and polarity on Thursday. We suspect nothing wrong but just the polarity of connection. We will report after inspection by the engineer. The grille look horrible with uneven paint work after removing the cloth. Well the sound is far better without the cloth. I still like the original art deco style metal grille and now considering to re-spray the grille or simply buy a new pair from Germany. White, black, green, blue or original bronze? Anyone with any suggestion? If everything go smoothly on Thursday, I suspect the OTA will sound very similar to the original ones with more bass and a little bit higher in treble. Anyway, you know we can always switch back to the original with a second pair in hand if the OTA sound too hifi. |

| [#1328] Quad ESL Dennis, Can you also check with OTA whether the bass panels have also been replaced and are OTA made. If so, what has been changed in the cross-over; ask for a schematic. Is the resistor on the 1500V line used to compensate for the lower surface resistance of the diaphragm? It was not in the original circuit. According to the article posted by jcml, the OTA treble panel will sound wierd with the original Quad bass panel and the cross-over has to be changed for the full OTA panels. |

The problem is Dennis does not have any audio source now, his Ittok no longer exist, and new arm is pending. The only audio source is DVD/Cd , but it is malfunction now. |

Powercord, We recommend QUAD II/22 because we've found no serious mistake with the ESL or LS3/5a. I once misundertood its power output only until recently after I changed to another cartridge at higher calibre. I am not too sure about the Leak 12.5 to go along with ESL, but I guess they should work well with ESL if you could found a pair of original and healthy units. The problem is that the chance of finding a pair of original unit is quite remote due to their rarity. In contrary, there are over 50,000 QUAD II on this planet to match. |

| [#1340] Quad ESL I've got a pair of close frame 12.1 at my place alongside with the Quad II/22 and V72/69 driving the ESL57. So this is real life experience. The only thing up to challenge is I do not have a "perfectly match" preamp to drive the Leak. I'm now using the Leak Varislope Stereo preamp and a transformer passive preamp. |
