I found that the KT66 brown base clear glass cup getter sound is in-between the smoke glass and clear glass double circle getters. Just nice, not too thick not too thin :-) My understanding is that the clear glass cup getter is produced right after the smoke glass. It was quickly changed to double cicrle getters type. There are not much clear glass cup getter produced as it was not seen as often as the smoke glass and clear glass double circle. Ace |

| [#1913] Quad ESL speaker Dear old and new friends, May be too crowded with too many people in my small house (Doctorjohn should know pretty well). I have only got a 3 seaters sofa.... I think 3 guests are about just right for leisure listening. My suggestion is either holding 2 sessions in 2 different Saturday afternoon if someone really loves to hear how the Dennis's Ex. speaker sounds like heaven in the past and comparatively pretty like "hell" in my house. Otherwise my Croft will attend the amp gathering (in cpsjj's workshop??) with the same speakers too. Dennis, if you don't mind, please become the co-ordinator as you are the person knowing everyone in this tread. Thanks. |

If OK, we hope to visit you say 11:00 am on 17/11 (Friday) since everybody is available on 17/11. Is Friday the 17th OK to you? otherwsie I wish torange it on 25/11 Saturday afternoon after 5:00pm We then have lunch together after the visit (my car can take five). Please further advise me. I’ve been using GE 6550 ever since day one when it was $100 a piece some 25 years ago. Does anyone have any idea how and where I may get genuine GE 6550s, and how much it is likely to cost? A friend of mine told me that the Tung Sol 6550 from Russia was far superior. I have neither the idea nor experience with this Tung Sol, but the look of it is surely sexy enough.  |

| [#1922] Quad ESL speaker limage, Just happens that there is an article in the last issue of HK hi-fi review (245) comparing 10 different versions of 6550. The final verdict---Tung-Sol 6550 reissue is the best buy. I can lend you my copy if you wish. As for GE6550 it is vry difficult to find at a reasonal price nowadays. You can try your luck at ebay. |
