| [#1926] Quad ESL speaker For ESL57 owner, a pair of One Thing Audio's Rupert stand is listing in ebay. I've found the Rupert, dedicated for ESL57, works very beautifully. Really good sound. My full recommendation if you could accept the look of it. It didn't look good on photo, but OK when you placed the ESL on top. CP, Patrick and Timtube amy not agree the look of Rupert. But trust me, the ESL sounds pretty well with Rupert. | [#1932] Quad ESL speaker My latest tonearm and cartridge upgrade. The new EKOS tonearm is the latest model just fitted by Precision's Mr Lui few weeks ago. I felt amoment of upsetting when Mr Lui told me there is only one guy who is well trained and qualified in HK to properly set up a Linn turntable. The Troika MC cartridge is my best favourite brought back from UK. Before reaching their top form, My new EKOS/Troika has already far excel my last Ittok/Karma combo in many areas including tracking, musicality, bass and treble. Just everything by a large margin. The new EKOS and Troika has been running in about 10- 20 hours. I am waiting for the 50 hours full run-in period and will put the spikes to the ESL Rupert stands. Hope to catch up the times when Hon and powercords next return from UK. |

| [#1937] Quad ESL speaker Hi, powercord, I am glad hearing from you again. Thanks very much for your assistance . My OTA ESL is now working perfectly except the look badly needing respray. The sound of ESL when placed on Rupert is excellent. I think but not sure my QUAD II, bought from a local hifi shop few years ago, are all original. No repair record under my ownership so far. I reme,ber I had the choices of five pairs QUAD II to choose at that time. I relied on Blue-ray and My old pal, Richard Lau when choosing the tube amp. Call me when you are free. My mobile 9450 4803. | [#1939] Quad ESL speaker Hi I am in the lounge in Heathrow. Just read your post. The grill shown in the photo is not too bad, or is that the pair you are refering to? For double quad, hard to find four matching grill too. the best would be to have black and respray them all with smae paint. How are your OTA upgraded version comparing with original Quad? Should be much better, I believe. After returning back to UK, will go to OTA again to get my pair for stacking. Meanwhile, I will try to get a carpenter to do the frames for me in HK. | [#1940] Quad ESL speaker Hi, Ricci, I am free on 9/11 and 11/11 daytime. Call me to meet you when you are home. Regarding the weird impedance of double QUAD. My phono provides two output. In this case, I am think using two sets of QUAD II/22 system, that is 2 pre-amp and 4 mono amp, both setting to 15 ohm output, to drive the double QUAD system. I understand there is a QUAD ESL advocate who is rather active in audiogon.com selling QUAD stands for double or single QUAD for around US300 to US600. What I plan to do in 2007 is 1) waiting for another pair of early production QUAD II/22 system. 2) wait for another set of QUAD matched KT66. 3) Relayout the room to accomodate the double QUAD. However, the plan is only in mind, may not come true due to low practicality. |

| [#1941] Quad ESL speaker limage: GE6550 is more fulsome sounding, but most of the current production tubes are "colder" and have a leaner bass which may require you to re-tune the system. Infant mortality is higher with the new tubes, so buy a few more with the same reading than needed. |
