Finished watching some sports, Olympics and Six Nations Ruby I think I have to fulfil my promise for more from the AN M1.

It's still tube rolling today and this time I have this Mullard ECC83 which is renown to be smooth and musical.

Is that right?

The Mullard is really smooth........so I want another one just a little bit more punchy.

Here is the American Sylvanan 12AX7 and it should give more pace and attack.

Sound bar? Are you not using your stereo any more? Never mind it's video so through the TV would be logical.

With the Sylvanan it seems more hum noise. I also think that with humid air in my garage which is prompt to hum noise. It happens every time.

I don't know if the caps with the KEF SP1004 crossover is getting old or not it doesn't seem working well with my DIY 3/5A.

Trying to look for alternative crossover but I didn't want to spend a fortune on it. I then found BK Electronics which also supply some LS3/5A parts, especially front panel.

They claim to have matching the original BBC crossover very well but looking at it it has less parts and too simple to match the BBC's. However, it only costs around £30 with the backplate so I thought why not?

I also try with and without the KEF B200 woofer as subwoofer. I was told the volume with the B200 seem louder than the 3/5A so I turned it round so now it's facing backward. There is no Crossover connected to the B200, just directly connected to the 3/A binding post running parallel connection.

How do you feel?

Springroll asked if I could play my R&R music with the M1. Of course!

How about some classic Blues Rock? Not just any bands but by our very own Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green.

Back in the 60's if you played with a electric guitar you either played Pop music or Blues and Psychedelic, hard rock was still a minority with the Yardbirds or Black Sabbath.

John Mayall and Peter Green were probably in the forefront for Blues in those days. Female Blues singers were hard to come by, apart from one.

Christine MacVie(nee Perfect) was a window display decorator before and a member of another Blues band called Chicken Shack. This was her breakthrough song before joining her future husband with Fleetwood Mac.

So yesterday was the Blues day for me. I also put another tube into the M1 and this time a Pianncle ECC83.

I thought where has the hum gone? Then I realised it was drier and sunny so “air” is cleaner. I do like the sound from the Pianncle. It has much better clarity and tonal depth, especially the high.

Then we know what has happened to the "formative American Fleetwod Mac" after Lindsay and Stevie joining the band.

Before that they had many changes with various personnel and thanks heaven Lindsay and Stevie had injected new life into the dying band.

As they say the rest is history.
