| [#526] Quad ESL Hi, being relatively new to this forum, I have not posted before but I can't let this thread go w/o comment. I have just switched my preamp from solidstate Mcintosh C32 to an Eckmiller/V72 combination driving four V73. The C32 has a 600Ohm line out and it clearly was better in driving the V73 than the high Z output. As of yet, I cant tell exactly what the strengths and weaknesses of the V72 or V72b are- but they sure sound nice with the first few CDs, so they seem to make a pretty good preamp. I do not use an ACTIVE fader, but have some MAIHAK/Eckmillers like W88 or W85 around. Peter ------------------------- CP......I saw the above at "hktubeaudio" today. | [#534] Quad ESL Patrick, I have an extra pair of V74 and V73. However, before I can give them to you for trial, I have to 1. ascertain that V74 really match with V73 2. one of the V73 has a cap problem which I have to replace. So if you are not in a rush, you can wait for me to fix them first. |
